Supporting the

Neuroendocrine Cancer Community

Please join us in thanking Camilla and Fiona for their fundraising efforts. Camilla and Fiona are two best friends, and took on the South West Coast Path Charity Challenge. They raised £5595.00 for NCUK.

Camilla has been a great friend of mine throughout my adult years. We’ve been through many of the highs and lows of life together. Her story of how this rare cancer has affected her family so profoundly spurred me on to join her in this challenge. My hope is that it’s not too cold and wet for the camping bit which isn’t my speciality subject!

Here is Camilla’s story:

My family has been affected by a rare cancer called Neuroendocrine Cancer. My Mother passed away from this cruel disease in 2009 and now my brother has been diagnosed. It’s a slow moving cancer but this makes it hard to spot. When Mum was diagnosed they thought she might have had it for many years and it had therefore spread significantly.

My brother had an operation in January 2020 but it has spread and is now inoperable and incurable. Thankfully it is still manageable and treatable. Those of you who know him will also know that he is a positive character with a brilliant and inspirational outlook. We all hope he will continue to live a full and active life for many years to come.

Fiona and I are walking 65km along the South West Coastal path from St Ives to Penzance to raise money for a small charity which is dedicated to Neuroendocrine Cancer. They play a vital role in the lives of those diagnosed with this unusual and complex disease. The charity is dedicated to providing support and information to those affected and also work with healthcare professionals to promote access to the best care and treatment, increase awareness, encourage and support clinical research and improve patient outcomes. Important stuff!

Thank you both for your support – you are amazing!
