Supporting the

Neuroendocrine Cancer Community

A huge thank you to Carol, who took on the Great North Run Solo challenge, from 18 June 2020 to 13 September 2020 and raised over £750.00 for NCUK!

Here’s Carol’s fundraising journey:

I was diagnosed March 2018 with a primary Neuroendocrine Tumour in my small intestine and secondaries in my liver and lymph node. Like most people I had never heard of this cancer and didn’t know what to expect. I am extremely lucky at the moment with no symptoms and stable tumours, without any medication. I want to raise money while I can by running, which is my favourite pastime! I’m slow but steady and my challenge is a Gold Medal for 300 miles over the 40 runs ending up with a half marathon distance on the 13th Sept. I was hoping to run this with my 3 children but if things continue to go well maybe next year.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Yesterday was fab! I have been blown away by the support! Loads of encouragement on the run by total strangers as well as some of my family! I’m really pleased with the current sponsor total. I have completed 40 runs over 78 days as part of the Great North Run Solo Challenge earning a Gold Medal for over 300 miles. Run 40 was the half marathon Virtual GNR yesterday 13.1miles in 3 hours and 10 mins…and best of all no need to go to the toilet!!!

Carol, you are an inspiration and an NCUK star!! Thank you.
