You & Research
We recognise the patient voice in research is vital.
Neuroendocrine Cancer UK undertakes in-house research as well as supporting external clinical trials, studies and surveys.
Your voice is a hugely underused expertise in research and we thank everyone who has contributed to any of the research that we have undertaken or supported.
Advocacy groups and Patient Organisations, like NCUK, are working globally to increase the patient contribution in research.
BIOBANKING
Biobanking is the process of collecting and storing removed tissue ( for example following an operation or biopsy procedure) no longer needed for diagnosis or treatment and / or taking a blood sample – for use in current or future research.
There are strict rules and regulations that govern biobanking and a centralised register of institutions involved.

Non-clinical research
Every year in the UK – there is a National Cancer Experience Survey – the purpose of which is gather information about the care and experience of care of those diagnosed and being treated for cancer – the aim is to monitor standards and improve services, experiences and outcomes.

At NCUK we also undertake non-clinical studies and surveys – to help us improve and maintain our services, but more importantly to ensure that your voice is heard and that our shared vision of a world in which people know how to recognise, diagnose, treat, care for, and ultimately, cure patients with Neuroendocrine Cancer, is achieved.
