URGENT ACTION NEEDED
The impact of cancer is far more than medical. With it, comes a hidden and often devastating financial burden that many do not see or expect: the ripple effect extending to family members and carers.
From travelling to receive the right treatment and expertise for your diagnosis, to dietary adjustments, increased laundry bills and additional support, it all adds up.
“Personal Independence Payment (PIP), introduced in 2013, was to provide non-means tested financial support as a contribution to the EXTRA costs arising from a long-term disability or health condition. These extra costs are not defined, and recipients are able to spend the money they receive according to their own needs.”

The proposed changes to PIP contained within the UC/PIP Green Paper, due its second reading Tuesday 1st July, mean that many people, including those with neuroendocrine cancer will no longer be able to claim PIP, despite having qualified due to their needs in the past. For those who need PIP under the current rules these changes could have a significant adverse effect on their day to day living, leaving them to face health-related extra costs unsupported and alone.
How can you help?
Your MP will have the chance to vote for or against the changes to PIP on 1 July in a bill called the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments Bill.
The Government’s timetabling of this 2nd reading has left us all with little time to respond
Email your MP and have your say.
You can add your voice by filling in the linked form (link provided HERE ) with your details and the email below will automatically be sent to your MP to ask them to vote against the changes.
*We do note that on Friday (27th June) the UK Government updated their proposals, saying that current claimants would not be impacted.
This isn’t enough.
It still leaves future claimants impacted by these changes.
Action is still needed to protect everyone who will be affected by the proposed changes in the future*
