Neuroendocrine Cancer Patient Case Studies for Healthcare Professionals

This is part of our ongoing ‘spotlight on neuroendocrine cancer’ series, a collaboration between Neuroendocrine Cancer UK and the UK & Ireland neuroendocrine tumour society (UKINETS) to raise awareness of neuroendocrine cancer (NC) among healthcare professionals.

These patient case studies are a series of videos taking the format of a Q & A between a medical student and 3 patients living with neuroendocrine cancer. They share their personal stories of being diagnosed (their symptoms, how they presented, investigations & treatments). There is also a video by a specialist NC consultant summarising the 3 patient cases.

Patient case studies

  • David presented at the age of 27 with a lymph node metastasis. His has metastatic small bowel neuroendocrine tumour. He also has carcinoid syndrome.
  • Linda’s neuroendocrine tumour was found incidentally when she was being investigated for a separate thyroid condition.
  • Peter’s neuroendocrine cancer presented as a lump in his arm, even though his primary tumour is in his pancreas.
