Neuroendocrine Cancer UK’s CEO, Catherine Bouvier-Ellis, has written an article, published today, which uses data from our Open Conversations report. It demonstrates that 84% of patients with neuroendocrine cancer weren’t asked how they were feeling emotionally when they received their diagnosis.
In it, she discusses how a cancer diagnosis is life changing. But for people with less common cancers like neuroendocrine cancer (NC), that emotional impact can be even more profound — and more invisible. With little awareness amongst both healthcare professionals and the public, and the reality of being diagnosed, often at a late stage, with a complex form of cancer, patients can be left facing a psychological burden that goes unrecognised and unsupported.
