Neuroendocrine Cancer UK are delighted that our article. ‘Are NENs no longer a rare cancer?’ has been published in the March edition of Neuroendocrinology.
For the patient community, this article is a powerful step forward. It highlights the need for better recognition of neuroendocrine cancer, (known medically as neuroendocrine neoplasms – NENs) within medical education, policy discussions, and healthcare service planning.
The paper also calls for a rethink: should NENs be treated as a single group, or should the wide range of sub-types be considered separately? And more importantly, how can healthcare professionals and decision-makers better understand the true scope of this disease?
For those living with NENs, delays in diagnosis, limited specialist knowledge, and inconsistent care pathways are all too familiar. By bringing these questions to the fore, this article not only raises awareness among HCPs but also strengthens the case for more equitable care for those affected by neuroendocrine cancer.
