Since October 2023, fundraiser Ruth has taken on a remarkable challenge: a daily dip in the cold sea, every single day, inspired by her husband, Dave, who is living with neuroendocrine cancer.

Ruth’s journey has been nothing short of incredible – dipping through stormy weather, freezing temperatures, and relentless waves – all to raise awareness and funds for Neuroendocrine Cancer UK. It’s been tough, both physically and emotionally, but Ruth’s determination and love for Dave have inspired so many along the way.

This October marks her two-year milestone of daily dipping – a huge achievement on her journey towards 1,000 consecutive dips. To celebrate, we’re inviting you to join us for the next big moment: the National Daily Dip 4 Dave Day on Saturday 11th October 2025.

On this day, hundreds of people across the UK (and beyond!) will come together to take on their own cold-water challenge in support of Ruth, Dave, and everyone affected by this hidden cancer. Whether it’s a sea swim, a dip in a lake or river, a splash in the pool, or even a bucket of cold water in your garden – every dip counts.

Follow Ruth’s Challenge and keep up to date with all the build-up to the event, including prizes and giveaways:

Sea or Ocean Dip

Take a dip in the sea or ocean, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Perfect for those who live near the coast.

Open Water Swim
Swim in a lake, river, or other open water.
Ideal for avid swimmers or those with access to natural water bodies.

Plunge Pool / Ice Bath
This activity is ideal for those who want a refreshing and invigorating cold dip experience. Haven’t got a plunge pool? You can create an ice bath at home by filling a bathtub or container with ice and cold water.

Cold Shower
Take a cold shower at home. A convenient option for anyone with access to a shower.

Feet in a Bucket
Submerge your feet in a bucket of ice-cold water. A simple and accessible way to participate, especially for those who may not want a full-body dip.

Safety

A Few Safety Notes:
We want everyone to stay safe while taking part in this incredible day. If you’re dipping in open water, please follow all safety guidelines, or take the challenge from the comfort of home with a cold shower or bucket dip.
