Fundraiser and Neuroendocrine Cancer patient cycles across Devon raising £6,000

Fundraiser and Neuroendocrine Cancer patient cycles across Devon raising £6,276.20 for NCUK.

Well, my bike ride to raise awareness and funds for NCUK felt fantastic – two of the best days of my life! It was nearly a year ago to the day that my consultant told me that PRRT would get me back on my bike – but I was really struggling with my ‘hypo’ symptoms and medication and felt desperately low then – and I did not think that would ever happen. But it has! Thanks to PRRT, and the support I had from NCUK, I can now lead a more normal life again. This feels like a miracle, I am profoundly grateful and loving making the most of each day for however long this lasts.

We cycled 72 miles over 2 days from Instow on the north Devon coast – mainly on cycle tracks through the beautiful Devon countryside back home to Cornwood on the southern edge of Dartmoor. It was a bit cloudy and chilly at the start on Good Friday but it got warmer and sunnier and on Easter Saturday we were blessed with fabulous weather.

In total 18 other people, my wife Sarah, son Alex and some our closest friends, cycled with me on various bits of the ride and helped with fundraising. We have raised £6,276.20 including Gift Aid so far and hopefully awareness of Neuroendocrine Cancer and the need for earlier diagnosis and better access to treatment.

We all had a great time and this was my way of saying ‘Thankyou’ and hopefully helping NCUK to make a difference for all of us affected by Neuroendocrine Cancer.

Donations are still coming in and any further support would be very much appreciated. You can read my story on my Just Giving page.

Many thanks and best wishes – Pete Blomley
