On Monday 23rd July, NET Patient Foundation joined other common, less common and rare cancer groups to provide comments on the work being done to produce a new cancer strategy.
There has been significant investment in cancer and mental health services and there was certainly a drive to put patients at the heart of this new plan. There were also plans to empower workforces to deliver, harness the power of innovation, focus on prevention and not just care, and ensure true parity of care between mental and physical health.
We pushed for (among other things), a more open and achievable non specific symptom pathway, development of partnerships between the NHS and patient organisations who also deliver a service in the community for patients, personalised medicine that can be adaptable and education and awareness that is equitable.
