Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (NENs) Updated Policy Recommendations 2022

Sep 21, 2022

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) in Europe represent a specific group of rare cancers that have shown an exponential increase in incidence over the last two decades. Due to their heterogeneity, NENs represent a challenge both clinically and for the healthcare systems. For this reason, in 2015, a set of policy recommendations on neuroendocrine tumours were launched for the first time at EU level in the European Parliament and endorsed by a group of MEPs. However, while some of the goals of the 2015 recommendations have been met, many challenges persist to ensure optimal patient care, including the effective functioning of reference networks, effective MDTs, improved diagnosis, and integration of new innovations into NENs care. With the aim to review the progress and achievements made over the past seven years and call on policymakers at EU and Member State level to help all countries to move forward, a new set of updated recommendations have been developed gathering a high-level group of experts in the field. The purpose of this event is to publicly launch these recommendations.
