NPF holds NETs Training Session for GPs

Dec 7, 2018

One of NPF’s main aims is to increase national awareness of Neuroendocrine Cancer and influence improvements in outcomes. On Wednesday 5th December we held our first NETs training session at the Big C Centre for year 2 GPs.

We were recently involved in a study that aimed to address the symptoms prior to diagnosis of people with known neuroendocrine tumours and also the involvement of healthcare providers prior to the diagnosis. 80% of respondents visited their GP regarding the symptoms a median of 11 times.

This training session was a great opportunity for us to help raise awareness of Neuroendocrine Cancer with GPs and we received some very positive feedback:

“very interesting and frightening to think of the times we may have missed a diagnosis!”

We look forward to building on these training sessions and have been invited back to hold another session for junior doctors!
