Launch of Stakeholder Political Alliance For Radioligand Cancer Therapies (SPARC)

SPARC-Europe (Stakeholder Political Alliance for Radioligand Cancer Therapies) is a European political initiative aiming to support a comprehensive policy framework for radioligand therapies.

Members of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon (S&D, Slovenia) and Brando Benifei (S&D, Italy) are the current political patrons of the initiative.

The establishment of this alliance is crucial for overcoming the current barriers of accessibility of radioligand therapies. The obstacles facing radioligand therapies’ accessibility and availability are many – from discrepancies and inequalities in terms of hospital infrastructure between regions and between European Union Member States to the lack of education and training standards throughout Europe. This alliance aims to be instrumental in maximising the power of the EU is working towards achieving optimal cancer care.

In a time where European institutions are taking a holistic review of the state of European Cancer care, there is a political need to ensure that the EU has the necessary patient and expert input to build a sustainable plan that encapsulates the changing science and important new paradigms in cancer. Through this event, SPARC-Europe aims to start its official contribution to the political debate on ensuring a coordinated approach to integrating a new paradigm in cancer care into EU and national policies.
