September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month.
Medullary Thyroid Cancer (MTC) is a rare neuroendocrine cancer that accounts for about 7 in 100 cases of thyroid cancer.
In 25% of MTC – it can occur as part of rare inherited (genetic) disorders called MEN2 or MEN3.
According to national guidelines : screening for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia 2 & 3 should be offered for all diagnosed with MTC.
