Women’s and Men’s Health – Live Facebook Q&A

Apr 29, 2019

Women are more likely to be diagnosed with depression than men, but men have a higher suicide rate.

In 2017, 5,821 suicides were recorded in Great Britain. Of these, 75% were male and 25% were female {ONS 2016}. NB Around 62% of women who are successful in suicide have made a previous attempt, but when it comes to men, 62% of those who die from suicide have no previous attempt.

Previous attempts are NOT attention seeking. One of the most important reasons for the difference between suicide attempts and completed suicides between men and women is the method of suicide used.

NPF Nurse, Nikie, held a live eld a live Facebook Q&A session answering questions about women’s and men’s health on Wednesday 24th April from 12.30 – 13.30.
